In act 1 of williams Shakespeare’s Macbeth, we are introduced to Lady Macbeth(Macbeth’s wife) and Shakespeare don’t bother to hide her dire ambition of making Macbeth King of scotland. In act 1 Scene 5 Lady Macbeth is introduced to the audience, she is reading a letter form her husband talking about how the witches told him that talked about how they predicted that he was going to be thane of cawdor and they also told him that he was going to be king but in act 1 scene 4 King Duncan announces that his son Malcolm was next in-line for the thrown. Lady Macbeth is furious that her husband is not strong enough to do anything i his power to become king, so Lady Macbeth takes it on her self to make sure that Macbeth is king.

In Scene 5 Lady Macbeth then goes on along spiel about how her husband is weak and then she then is interrupted by a messenger that informs her that the King will be staying at her battlement, she then goes on finding out about the witches she calls out to them to “…unsex me here, And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty…”. In this park of the spiel she is calling out to the unnatural to change her gender because as a women she hasn’t got a lot of power and if she wanted to do anything about getting Macbeth to become king she would have to work through Macbeth she also talks about “Nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark To cry “Hold, hold!””. She is telling heaven to cover it eye’s and to not beep or pier at what she is doing because she wants to get to heaven in the end but if heaven where to watch what she is about to do she would be damned to hell.
